Our placement programmes are a great opportunity for you to develop the enterprise and entrepreneurial skills and attributes which are essential for running a successful business venture or in securing a great graduate job.

Work for Yourself Sandwich Year Placement

This is an opportunity for you to develop a commercial or social venture of your own. You don’t need an amazing idea just enthusiasm and a desire to do something different. The enterprising skills you will develop will make you a stand out candidate to employers not to mention the confidence and business knowledge you will acquire. Running your own business for a year really looks great on a CV and will be a great talking point at interviews. If you decide to continue working on your business during your final year and beyond, you will still be able to continue to access the Enterprise Team's support.

The support you can expect from us. 

  • Funding: £500 seed fund (per business) with further funding up to £1000 available
  • Regular appointments with our Start-up Adviser
  • Regular business-related workshops
  • Access to specialist business advisers as required and appropriate
  • Free tenancy in the Hallam i-Lab for the duration of the year
  • Mentoring support
  • Networking opportunities

      Enterprise Residency (new 2019/20)!

      This will be offered at either level 4, 5 or 6 (depending on your degree).The Enterprise Residency is one of the 6 work experience options that will be available to you, and is an opportunity for you to initiate your own enterprising project/venture, test out your creative and innovative skills, take risks and make mistakes within a supportive and safe environment. You can apply as an individual, partnership or small group (up to 4). The support you can expect from us is as follows:

      • Access to the Enterprise Team advice and guidance
      • Workshops (enterprise skills & business related)
      • Free tenancy in the Hallam i-Lab for the duration of the Residency
      • Mentoring support
      • Networking opportunities
