The Hallam Achieve program ("Achieve") is specifically for international students, and is designed to enhance your career readiness and employability success by helping you to identify and articulate your skills, knowledge and experience in an appropriate and professional way.

Through a series of interactive workshops, events and a mock interview, you will take ownership of your personal career journey, improve your confidence in navigating the recruitment process and shape your future success!


You are eligible to apply if you are:

  • An international undergraduate student in your 2nd or final year during the Academic year 2019-2020; OR 

  • An international postgraduate student

You are not eligible to apply if you:

  • Are not a current SHU student for the Academic year 2019-2020 


Applications are open from 10 December - 5pm, 27 January 2020.

Applicants will be contacted on 4 February, and advised whether or not their application has been successful.

Hallam Achieve (the Pilot) will run from 12 February to 25 March 2020.

It includes the following elements:

Events (compulsory) designed to help build your experience and skills:

  • Welcome event on 12 February (3-5pm)

  • Mock interview on 18 March (20 minutes, time to be confirmed bet 9am-5pm)

  • Celebration Event on 25 March (3-5pm)

Workshops (compulsory) for you to gain practical skills that could prove invaluable for your career:

4 core workshops:

  • Wed 19 Feb: Workshop 1 (CVs), 3-5pm

  • Wed 26 Feb: Workshop 2 (LinkedIn), 9-11am   

  • Wed 4 Mar: Workshop 3 (Job Search), 3-5pm  

  • Wed 11 Mar: Workshop 4 (Interviews), 3-5pm                    


Upon completion of your Achieve personal journey of discovery, as well as the invaluable skills and relationships you will have developed throughout Hallam Achieve, you will also:

  • Receive recognition of your participation and the workshops you have completed;
  • Have gained in confidence in how to apply for degree-specific jobs;
  • Know how to articulate your strengths to a potential employer;
  • Have developed key soft skills that employers look for in graduates.
