Part-time and campus jobs

Want to earn some money and enhance your skills and experience? Then apply for a Campus Job.

Campus Jobs are flexible, paid opportunities, that can fit around your studies. Campus Jobs are only for Sheffield Hallam students, and as they are on campus you'll probably be working somewhere you know. For most campus jobs you do not need any previous experience. With a wide range of different roles, one-off assignments and ongoing opportunities, there's always something to suit.

Some of the most popular campus jobs are:

  • Student Ambassador - talking about your course and uni experience, showing prospective students around, and providing information about specialist services on offer. Ambassadors are always needed for open days, job fairs, Clearing, graduation events, and lots more. There are specialist ambassador roles for those who speak different languages, have digital skills or are great at social media and marketing. #Hallam Insiders is a brilliant example of the work our students do.

  • Student Assistant - assisting with enrolment, supporting the IT team, helping out at events, working in facilities or catering outlets.

  • Casual Research Assistant - working on research projects, usually related to your course/department interests. Attracting a higher rate of pay, these roles are great to hone your research skills.

There are many more opportunities - photographer, fashion assistant, translator, event steward, degree show assistant, call centre assistant, fundraiser - just some of the roles advertised recently!

Applying is easy, it's usually a short application form on UniHub, saying why you think you are suitable. For a few roles there might be a quick telephone or face-to-face interview.

Got the job?  We'll send you some forms to fill in for payroll, and check your right to work in the UK (usually by looking at your passport/visa) but it's quick and easy.

We recommend working no more than 15 hours a week during term time (and for students on a Tier 4 visa it is strictly no more than 20 hours a week)

Find Campus Job vacancies on UniHub  - where you will also find details of other part-time and graduate opportunities.

Come along to the Work While You Study and Go Global Fairs. You can meet employers and find out about jobs they have on offer during your studies. Some of the companies offer great roles for graduates too, and a part time or vacation job might be the way to get noticed.

If you need help with your job search or any aspect of your application you can also book an appointment with your Employability Adviser.

Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY)

If you work on or off campus take part in Student Employee of the Year. You can also nominate your employer. This is a great way to celebrate your achievements.
