What do Hallam graduates do?

Universities across the UK regularly get in contact with their recent graduates to find out what they are up to now that they have left university. This national survey was previously called the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) and in future will be called the Graduate Outcomes survey. From January 2020, the data on what graduates do after completing university will be drawn from the the Graduate Outcomes Survey, which is the biggest UK annual social survey and captures the perspectives and current status of recent graduates.

All graduates who completed a course will be asked to take part in the survey 15 months after they finish their studies. The survey aims to help current and future students gain an insight into career destinations and development. We want to understand the graduate perspective and what success looks like for you following your time in higher education. Your responses will help your university or college to evaluate and promote their courses.

Your valuable response adds to the collective voice of graduates and the results will give current and future students an insight into career destinations and development. Your responses will also help your university or college to evaluate and promote their offerings.

The survey looks to understand whether you’re in employment, have continued with further study or are doing something else and to what extent your qualification played a part. The term ‘outcomes’ in our survey’s name is key – we want to gain insight into whether the student experience delivered what was promised to you, from a learning and potential employment perspective. We don’t expect every path or destination to be totally straightforward.

This has been compiled from the results of the DLHE survey from every UK University and gives a wider picture across different subject areas. When thinking of your future career, these publications can be useful to get a better idea of your options and to help you plan based on your specific skill set and job market trends. There is also a regional version of 'What do graduates do?' for 2019/20, which provides additional detail about the geographical mobility of graduates and where some of the shortage occupations in different parts of the country are located.
