The Student and Graduate Employability Service offers a lifetime service to Hallam graduates, so get in touch with our awesome team of Employability Advisers who can support you with:

  • Reflecting on the skills and behaviours you have developed through your life experience (including study, work, volunteering and extra-curricular activities) and how this can be leveraged to help you own your career narrative and explore future career pathways
  • Providing tailored advice and feedback on job applications, CVs, cover letters, psychometric tests, assessment centres and more
  • Supporting with preparation for job interviews or assessment centres through one-to-one appointments or bespoke practice interviews

Labour Market Information

Whether you have a good idea of your next steps after graduating or feel that you are at a bit of a crossroads, understanding more about Labour Market Information (LMI) and developments in the national and local economy is a vital career management skill!

We can support you with developing your LMI know-how and commercial awareness with:

  • Weekly advice columns from our Employability Advisers providing tips and insights into how to enhance your employability and stay up-to-date with developments during the current period

Digital Careers Tools

As a Hallam student and soon-to-be graduate, you also have access to exclusive digital tools on our Careers Centre 360 platform. These resources include the following:

  • Career Pulse Survey - Check your employability with a short self-assessment
  • Career Assessments - Understand your motivations, preferences and values to help you reflect on your career ideas, as well as being good preparation for discussing your next steps with an Employability Adviser
  • Career E-Learning - A wide range of interactive online learning courses, covering subjects from Career Management and Business Skills to Industry Insights and CV Advice
  • Practical Employability Tools - Covering everything from practising your Elevator Pitch, with interactive tools like CV360, Interview Simulator, Cover Letter Builder and the Virtual Assessment Centre Tool

Workshops and events

These events take a variety of different forms, from interactive webinars to online panel discussions with employers, recruiters, and other guest speakers. See up-coming and past webinars on Careers Connect!

We have also launched a series of bespoke ‘Spotlight’ events exclusive to the Class of 2020. This includes our online launch event which took place on Thursday 4th June. This provided an overview of the university-wide support for Class of 2020, and had a focus on internships. You can catch-up on all our 'Spotlight' workshops on UniHub.

Hallam Graduate Start-ups

Innovation is going to be essential to help recharge the UK economy, so why not use this time to consider pursuing your own business venture? The Enterprise Team offer a range of support as part of their ‘Hallam Graduate Start-Ups’ package, including 1-1 business advice, access to funding, networking opportunities, online workshops and much more! Mentoring

The Hallam Collective is an online global network open to all Hallam alumni to help develop connections. You can register and create your own profile detailing your education and employment, and then begin searching through the directory, and messaging individuals, if you so wish.

Benefits

Being a part of the Hallam Collective provides you with access to other students within the graduating class of 2020, and the wealth of Sheffield Hallam University alumni that have graduated within previous years and are now working within industry. 

Therefore, you can use the platform to:

  • expanding your network of contacts
  • exploring different career options or areas which interest you
  • gaining information and advice on how to progress into industry
  • undertake a mentoring partnership
